FOREIGN Affairs and International Trade Minister Dr Fredrick Shava on Monday represented President Mnangagwa at the inauguration of the Brazilian leader Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
Zimbabwe, which enjoys cordial relations with Brazil under the South-South Cooperation, was one of a few African countries invited for the inauguration.
According to the Ministry’s Twitter page, Dr Shava also, “met with Ambassador Ruy Pereira, Director of the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC). The Agency is in charge of carrying out technical cooperation projects between the Brazilian government and its cooperation partners, including Zimbabwe.”
The Ministry said there are currently two ongoing cooperation projects in cotton productivity, livestock development and pasture improvement.
“Technical Demonstration Units have been established at the Cotton Research Institutes in Kadoma and Gokwe, as well as the Grasslands Research Centre in Marondera,” said the Ministry.
“The livestock project aims to increase the national herd in order to increase export opportunities for Zimbabwean beef. In terms of cotton productivity, the goal is to improve rural livelihoods and create jobs, in addition to value addition and beneficiation.”
