ZANU PF Secretary for Women’s Affairs Cde Mabel Chinomona says the Party is committed to improving relations with its all weather friend the People’s Republic of China.

Speaking at the Virtual Seminar for Women Leaders of Political Parties from Southern African countries hosted by the Communist Party of China CPC today, Cde Chinomona noted that there are huge steps that have been taken by ZANU PF and President Cde E.D Mnangagwa to strengthen relations with the People’s Republic of China and CPC.

“For over a century, mutual trust and support has been the hallmark of the friendship between the CPC and ZANU PF, especially in the times of difficulties caused by the deadly COVID-19 pandemic,” Cde Chinomona said.

“We highly appreciate the special bond and the elevation of Zimbabwe from All Weather Friends to an All-encompassing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership by President Xi Jinping during His Excellency the President and First Secretary, Cde E.D. Mnangagwa’s State visit to China from 2 to 6 April 2018.

“President Mnangagwa also announced the upgrading of Chinese nationals visiting Zimbabwe from Category C to B of the country’s visa regime, enabling the Chinese to obtain their visas at the Port of entry. All this adds another layer of significance to our excellent state-to-state and party-to-party relations.”

Cde Chinomona added that the women’s leagues in both parties continue to work towards improving the livelihoods of their people.

“Both ZANU-PF and the All China women’s federation continue to successfully lead their women and communities and are committed to national development and improving people’s living standards,” the Women’s League Secretary said.

“ZANU-PF values its friendship with the CPC and appreciates the achievements China has made under the leadership of the CPC with President Xi at the core. We will continue to maintain high-level exchanges to promote the women in national development through economic projects in different areas.

“We have witnessed in the past few years increased participation in our economy by Chinese companies which brings essential growth much need by our country.”

She added that “Zimbabwe’s economic transformation will immensely contribute to the attainment of our President Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa’s vision of becoming an Upper Middle-Income Economy by 2030.”

She also said “high level meetings between the two Governments and Parties have been held showing far reaching relations extending beyond the extraction of minerals and other economic ties. China has defended us and stood by us and we are grateful for that brotherly solidarity and support which you have given us and we shall also continue to support the thrust and the non-interference policy of the People’s Republic of China whether it would be on our continent or domestically.

“We support you on the thrust of multilateralism as against the pursuit of narrow interests by the big powers of the first world.”

She concluded by saying that “ZANU PF is confident that the Chinese people, under the leadership of the CPC, will surely achieve the Two Centenary Goals of completing the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects and turning itself into a great modern socialist country by 2049.”

On her part, the Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and President of the All-China Women’s Federation, Cde Shen Yueyue noted that “China and Africa must continue to tell the stories of a China-Africa friendship that brings more benefit to people in China and Africa. We must build more platforms for cooperation and deepen cooperation for the benefit of women and children.”
