ZANU-PF leaders in Gwanda have intensified voter mobilisation for the 2023 elections as the ruling party is targeting to secure all local authority and parliamentary seats in the district.

Addressing party members during a meeting at Lushongwe area in Gwanda recently, Central Committee members, Cdes Abedinico Ncube, Madodana Sibanda and Trynos Nkomo urged people to be united and rally behind the party’s visionary leader and 2023 Presidential candidate, President Mnangagwa.

The three Central Committee members will be holding joint meetings in the district to garner support for the ruling party.

Cde Ncube said the joint meeting is an indication of the unity among the party leadership cascading down to grassroots level.

“Our leader, President Mnangagwa who is the party’s sole Presidential candidate for the 2023 elections has always emphasised the need for unity within the party and the entire nation at large. Unity will ensure that our party has a resounding win in the 2023 elections,” he said.

“If we are divided we will spend most of the time fighting each other instead of strengthening the party. This is the time for us to work and sell the party to the people. There is no way we can lose considering the work that is being done by the Zanu-PF Government to develop communities.”

Cde Ncube urged party members to be wary of divisive elements within the party.

Speaking during the same meeting, Cde Sibanda said various development projects being implemented by Government under the Second Republic are a clear indication that Zanu-PF is development-oriented.

He said projects that have been implemented in Matabeleland South province such as the ongoing construction of the Tuli-Manyange Dam, modernisation of the Beitbridge Border Post, tarring of the Gwanda-Maphisa Road, revitalisation of irrigation schemes among other projects are a testimony that Vision 2030 is attainable under the stewardship of President Mnangagwa.

“President Mnangagwa has always emphasised on the need to defend the revolutionary gains and we have to ensure that we do that. We have to defend these gains through the ballot paper,” said Cde Sibanda.

“We have a number of development projects underway which have changed the face of the province and have also improved the livelihoods in rural communities. Let us therefore, not lose sight of such positive developments being implemented by the Second Republic to achieve Vision 2030,” he said.

Cde Nkomo said the Government under the leadership of President Mnangagwa has also made significant efforts by including people with disabilities in the development agenda.

He said several policies have been put in place to mainstream the inclusion of all people, an indication that Government does not want to leave anyone and any place behind. – The Chronicle
