THE newly constituted Binga Town Board has started the process of relocating from the Binga Rural District Council offices.
Government granted Binga a town board status as of August last year following a request that was made by chiefs to President Mnangagwa. This was part of efforts by the Second Republic of leaving no place and no one behind on developmental issues.
In a public notice, the board revealed that the Binga Local Board offices, which are located at the Binga Community Library, will now handle all land development issues that were previously handled by the Binga Rural District Council.
The council issued an ultimatum to the general public informing land owners to update their lease payments by 30 April 2023 and failure to do so the Local Board Authority will reclaim unpaid for land.
“Any previous arrangements pertaining lease arrears, lease payments, land issues or any other engagements pertaining development will now be handled by Binga Local Board, members of the public are therefore advised to visit Binga Local Board offices for any clarifications,” reads the notice.
Meanwhile, the council said it is going to impound all animals that will stray into town and all farmers with such animals will be penalised.
The notice was given to the public after realising that animals were let to roam around Binga Centre causing severe damage to people’s property without the owners compensating the property owners.
“The public is advised to drive away their livestock roaming at Binga Centre by 30 April 2023, all stray livestock will be impounded in line with the Binga Rural District Council, S.l.61 of 2019, any animal which shall be found roaming about in town without the owner shall be deemed to be stray animals and shall be impounded by the local authority,” reads the notice.
Council said it will impound all the stray animals and all impounded livestock shall be auctioned after twelve weeks if the owner fails to pay a fine. Each beast shall attract a fine cost of USD$2 per day. – Sunday News
