Harare- Cabinet on Tuesday approved the concept note for the mid-term review of the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), the government’s five year economic development blueprint.
The review, which will include the public and other stakeholders, will take stock of progress made under the NDS1 which is in its third year of implementation.
Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa touted some of the NDS1 milestones.
“There has been significant progress in the implementation of the strategy as evidenced by a GDP growth of 8.5 percent registered in 2021, against a target of 5 percent.
“Several key projects have also been implemented, notwithstanding the negative impacts of endogenous and exogenous factors including Covid-19, Eastern Europe tensions, and inflation and exchange rate instability,” she said.
To better highlight some of the milestones, Mutsvangwa said a documentary showcasing the impact of the NDS1 in uplifting the standard of living of people would be put together.
She said the impact of NDS 1 would be measured through a participatory and consultative approach to be done through 14 thematic working groups.
