Zimbabweans should vote for President Mnangagwa and Zanu PF resoundingly in the forthcoming harmonised elections to reward him for uniting the people and initiating major infrastructure development across the country, Zanu PF Central Committee member Cde Wilson Khumbula has said.
Cde Khumbula used to be Zanu Ndonga president, but joined Zanu PF together with his supporters in 2018.
He made the remarks on Tuesday during the handover of a wheelchair, groceries and cash to an elderly woman, Gogo Cecilia Manyike, commonly known as Gogo Jambaya.
The donation was sourced by membership of Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ) in Chipinge South Constituency.
The handover was done at Gogo Jambaya’s homestead in Mashubi Village in Chipinge South’s Ward 28.
Gogo Jambaya, who lives about 4,5km from the Mozambican border, lost both legs up to the knees in 1987 while tilling her field, after stepping on a land mine reportedly planted by rebels during the Mozambican civil war that ran from 1977 to 1992.
From 1987, Gogo Jambaya struggled to visit the toilet, go to the clinic, let alone work for the family, prompting FAZ members to source a wheel chair to enable her to go for cancer tests.
They also donated some groceries.
Speaking at the event, Cde Khumbula said the handover of the wheelchair and other goodies, underlined President Mnangagwa’s determination to leave no one and no place behind in his development drive, for the attainment of an upper middle income society by 2030.
“I want to thank FAZ for helping Gogo Jambaya. What you have done is in line with the President’s ‘Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo’ mantra,” said Cde Khumbula.
“The FAZ members from this village (Mashubi) who identified Gogo Jambaya, have helped build their own community and this is commendable.
“As we go to elections this year, let’s all have the spirit of unity. When you want to achieve anything, you unite as a nation. That is why you saw some of us joining Zanu PF. The President we have wants unity and we thank God for giving us such as leader.”
Cde Khumbula called for peace before, during and after the elections, for the nation to continue to develop.
“Let’s not fight each other, but unite as demanded by President Mnangagwa,” he said. “Recently, I was with Professor Lovemore Madhuku here in Manicaland and he also said he had never seen a President who wants to people to be united like President Mnangagwa.
“This is a year for us to unite. We want leaders who help develop the country not those that call for sanctions. Other leaders such as the late Ndabaningi Sithole and late Vice President Dr Joshua Nkomo, never called for sanctions on Zimbabwe.”
Area legislator Cde Enock Porusingazi, who handed over the donation, said he was happy with the donation.
“FAZ has been helping people in this community, but this assistance for Gogo Jambaya has come at the right time,” he said. “Gogo has been struggling to go to places where Presidential Inputs are distributed, to go for Zanu PF meetings and even to the clinic.
“Through this donation we have seen from close range the President’s mantra of leaving no one and no place behind.”
An ecstatic Gogo Jambaya said: “I thank you for this gift. I will be able to move around because of this car I got from the President.”
FAZ team leader for Chipinge South Cde James Maposa said they will continue working to improve the lives of people in the community, in line with the mandate they have from the President.
The event was attended by representatives from the War Veterans League, Teachers for Economic Development, Mahwindi for Economic Development, Zanu PF Youth League, Zanu PF District Coordinating Committee members, FAZ members from Musikavanhu Constituency, Chief Garawa, and village heads. – The Herald
