Motorists and the travelling public in Mazowe North have welcomed the rehabilitation of the Mvurwi-Mutorashanga Road which had become a threat to motorists.

The 10km link road from Mvurwi town in Mazowe North constituency to Mondyenes Farm, has become a vital cogwheel in the economic development as farmers, mainly (tobacco), chrome miners and the general travelling public use it to access their markets.

Through the engagement by Mazowe North legislator Cde Campion Mugweni, local farmer Mr Sean Phillips is now funding the rehabilitation of the road from Mondyenes Farm to Mutorashanga.

Negotiations with the mining giant Zimasco to fund the road rehabilitation works in Mutorashanga are said to be in advanced stages.

The rehabilitation of the road will make life easy for tobacco growers ferrying their crop to the auction floors in Mvurwi.

“The link road to Mutorashanga that passes through EWaddon Chase had become a real menace and we are grateful to our MP’s efforts in engaging Mr Phillips to chip in. Transporters were now charging us exorbitant fares because of the bad road. I am now relieved that the road is now undergoing rehabilitation,” said local farmer Mr Shadreck Shumba.

Cde Mugweni said the Second Republic was all about engaging with people to boost and uplift livelihoods.

“The Second Republic has taught us to engage each other. Even President Mnangagwa always talks about engaging and re-engaging for economic development.

“We are glad we engaged Mr Phillips and other players. Now, the road rehabilitation is bringing relief to farmers, miners and the general travelling public,” said Cde Mugweni. – The Herald
