ZANU PF Sanyati Member of Parliament, Cde Polite Kambamura, has ameliorated water challenges in the hot and dry constituency by rehabilitating old boreholes and having new ones drilled.
At least 39 new boreholes have been drilled, some installed with solar power, while 55 dilapidated sources were rehabilitated by the legislator from own coffers to help improve accessibility to safe water.
His contribution is in line with the Second Republic’s drive for rural development.
Lozane villager Mr Sibion Ndawana said the continuous gesture by Cde Kambamura to the community was welcomed.
“We have had challenges of clean water access and the hand extended by our legislator has sweetened our plight. We are optimistic that the borehole that was drilled in our area will also reduce water-borne diseases,” he said.
Another villager and Zanu PF provincial youth member, Cde Morris Kavhu, said the established boreholes had started to turn around the lives of youths in the constituency.
“We have youths that have started to make a living from the borehole ls mainly getting involved in garden projects,” he said.
Cde Kambamura installed a solar-powered borehole at Chiguvari Primary School at ARDA shopping centre where over 2 000 pupils learn.
Some of the areas that benefited from Cde Kambamura’s gesture include Nyaunde, Sarukweza, Madzivaenzou, Gadza, Chemaware, Hozhele, Masasa and Chirikiti.

Some of the boreholes have been drilled and set up at existing and newly constructed dip tanks to shorten the distance travelled by villagers to access water for dipping.
The legislator’s move, which also complements the Government’s drive of drilling over 35 000 boreholes countrywide, is anticipated to make the constituency richer in boreholes.
Cde Kambamura said more boreholes were earmarked for rehabilitation and drilling this year.
“We are rallying behind President Mnangagwa’s call for us to help build our nation. While the President through Rural Infrastructure Development Agency (RIDA) previously District Development Fund (DDF) is setting up 35 000 boreholes in each village countrywide, as Sanyati we have gone a step further,” he said.
“As the Presidential boreholes scheme is being rolled out, some of our communities will have access to clean and close water sources.”
As a way of ring-fencing the successes of the Government in the livestock recovery plan, more boreholes had been drilled at almost every dip tank to increase dipping intervals.
Villagers here previously skipped dipping due to the distance they walked to fetch water.
The constituency was heavily affected by January Disease and other livestock diseases spread by ticks so needed regular dipping of livestock. – The Herald
