Greenfuel last week parcelled out 0.5ha plots to 253 farmers in Chinyamukwakwa at an event that was presided over by the Agriculture minister Anxious Masuka.
The 253 plots handed to farmers brings the total number of plots handed over to local farmers to 1460 plots with 730 under irrigation.
Masuku encouraged the recipients to work hard in these plots to transform their lives.
He also urged Greenfuel to continue with its social investment and to make sure the farmers are fully supported not only in producing their crops but also finding markets.
“Lets build the agricultural sector household by household, farm by farm, enterprise by enterprise .Nokuti musha unovakwa nevene vawo,” said Masuka.
In his remarks, area legislator Enock Porusingazi thanked Greenfuel for giving farmers the chance to practice farming under irrigation.
“Greenfuel you have proved that you are not giving farmers fish but fishing rods so that they will do the fishing themselves. We thank you and urge you to continue doing these programs to us,” said Porusingazi.
“We want to see this scheme going forward without any problems. Chipinge South is in Region 5 and we receive erratic and compromised rainfall and our survival is on irrigation so lets accept these irrigation schemes and move forward with them to have bumper harvest,” added Porusingazi.
