Former Warriors and Orlando Pirates striker Tendai Ndoro has advised young footballers to stay away from drugs and also to keep in touch with their roots.

Speaking in an interview with South African Melisa Laung on Sports Gist show, Ndoro also dispelled the notion that he hit hard times because of the divorce to South African woman Thando Maseko.

“Life is a bit satanic somewhere, somehow, first thing you should not forget is where you came from whether you are doing well or not. I don’t want to wish anyone to be in the same situation that I was because it was terrible. I’m grateful to God that I managed to recover. So I urge the upcoming players to pray and stay away from drugs as well,” Ndoro said.

He said his downfall had nothing to do with the divorce to the South African woman but it was because he suffered a spiritual attack which left him blind before he found divine help.

“I want to urge people to be responsible when they say things about another person. What people were saying is not true, I want to clear umtwana wabantu . Thando Maseko is not responsible for everything that happened to me. We had a peaceful divorce. People should not say things they don’t have knowledge about because we lost so many people because they killed themselves because of lies that were written or said about them. I know it’s not controllable but people must try to talk or write what they know”.

Ndoro said he is looking forward to be back on the field of play probably during the January transfer window.

“There have been clubs interested in from Oman, Saudi Arabia, Dubai but I said let me wait a bit but something is coming up and you will see that ‘Fire’ again.”

“I didn’t want to rush because football can embarrass you. Remember I have been out of football for some time so I don’t need to rush things.”

The 37 year old Ndoro made headlines in October 2021 when he appeared frail emerging from a training session with Shamva based Simba Bhora. The rumour mill was abuzz with unsubstantiated stories that he had lost all his earnings after divorcing his South African wife.
