A BULAWAYO man ran over his wife with a truck during a domestic dispute before stage managing a hit and run accident and made a report to the police.

Tendai Tigere Gondo (29) allegedly he ran over his wife Sanele Ndlovu (21) with a Hino Truck on September 16 along Chaplain Road, Kumalo suburb.

“After the incident, the suspect stage managed a hit and run road accident and made a false report at ZRP Bulawayo traffic,” said the police in a statement.
The police said Gondo was arrested on September 18.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested 81 people in the ongoing operation targeting unlicensed, uninsured and unregistered motor vehicles and reckless drivers.

“This includes the arrest of Ellen Sikhala (46) who was arrested for driving against the flow of traffic along Seke Road near National Railways of Zimbabwe traffic lights, Harare CBD on 20 September around 9AM.

“She was driving a Nissan Navara vehicle, registration number AFK 6111 and is now being charged for reckless driving.,” said the police.

The police have also warned foreign nationals are warned against running away from accident scenes.
This follows the arrest of a 36-year-old foreign national in connection with a hit-and-run road incident on 18 September at the 29 km peg along Harare-Bulawayo Road.

“The foreign national did not stop after hitting a pedestrian with a Toyota Twin Cab vehicle. As a result of the accident the victim sustained head injuries and bruises on both hands. The suspect was later arrested at a roadblock along Harare -Bulawayo Road at the 74 km peg,” said the police.
