SOUTH AFRICAN amapiano power house Scorpion Kings comprising DJs Maphorisa and Kabza De Small escaped arrest in Bulawayo after paying a US$18 000 security fee at the High Court in a matter between the duo and organisers of the Victoria Falls Carnival.
The duo along with former label mate and BET award winner Sha Sha were booked to perform at the Victoria Falls Carnival in April but failed to pitch.
The carnival organisers have been trying to get a refund of bookings from the DJs to no avail.
When they heard that the duo was performing at Queens Sports Club in the city on Sunday, the carnival organisers approached the High Court seeking an order to arrest the DJs.

The order was granted and the deputy sheriff along with the police and officials from the immigration department visited Holiday Inn on Monday morning where the DJs were booked, to effect the arrest.
However, through the intervention of their local lawyer Zibusiso Ncube, the DJs paid $18 000 security fee to the High Court to avoid the arrest.
Speaking to journalists outside Holiday Inn, Ncube said the security was not necessarily restitution to the carnival organisers.
He said after the High Court order, the two Djs either had to be in jail until the courts finalised the matter or pay security in a specified amount of money by the courts to say they will stand trial.
“The securities have been sorted out with the sheriff but we do have instructions to challenge the claim and the present order. It must be noted that the claim for the money allegedly owed is yet to be filed I court so we are going to look into that,” said Ncube.
“The court has to determine that claim so that hasn’t been determined. What has been paid now is just security to say that yes, we will stand trial so they have not accepted any liability.”
The Djs eventually left Bulawayo for South Africa on Monday evening.
